Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the MonuDex website, iOS app, and related verification service. By using MonuDex, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility and local data
You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum digital-consent age in your country. MonuDex does not currently require an account. Your collection is stored locally on your device, and you are responsible for maintaining access to and backups of that device.
Travel and personal safety
MonuDex never requires trespassing, climbing, bypassing barriers, entering restricted areas, obstructing traffic, or taking a photo from an unsafe position. Follow local laws, opening hours, ticketing rules, cultural expectations, site instructions, and directions from authorities. Do not use the app while driving or when doing so would distract you from your surroundings.
Coordinates and catalogue details are provided for discovery and may be incomplete, outdated, or imprecise. Confirm access and conditions independently before travelling.
Monument verification and unlocks
Unlocks depend on camera access, precise location, image recognition, distance calculations, and anti-abuse checks. Automated systems can make mistakes. MonuDex may reject or reverse an unlock when signals are insufficient, manipulated, unlawful, or inconsistent with the service.
An unlock is a product achievement only. It is not proof of identity, ownership, legal access, professional certification, or an official record of travel.
Your photos
You retain ownership of a photo you submit. You grant MonuDex a limited, non-exclusive license to transmit, process, and technically format that photo only as needed to perform the verification you request, operate the retry queue, secure the service, and comply with law. The current app does not publish submitted photos or create public user profiles.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit a photo. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, deceptive, abusive, sexually exploitative, or privacy-invasive material.
Acceptable use
You may not spoof location, manipulate images, automate unlock attempts, scrape the service, probe security, interfere with service operation, reverse engineer protected parts of the service except where law permits, impersonate others, or use MonuDex for unlawful activity. We may limit access to protect users, monuments, providers, and the service.
MonuDex and third-party content
The app, website, branding, software, interface, and original content are owned by MonuDex or its licensors. Monument photographs, map data, and linked reference material may be provided under third-party licenses and remain the property of their respective owners. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
Service changes
Features, monument entries, unlock rules, and availability may change. We may add, remove, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service and correct collection records when needed.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MonuDex is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MonuDex and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from travel decisions, site access, user conduct, data loss, or inability to use the service. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
Termination and changes
You may stop using MonuDex at any time. We may suspend access when these terms are violated, when required by law, or when necessary to protect the service or others. We may update these terms as the service changes; the revised date above identifies the latest version.
